As a young boy I spent time on the sets of major Dutch productions like De Marathon, Toegetakeld door de Liefde and Spoorloos Verdwenen — not as an official crew member, but tagging along as a trainee, just like my father, who worked in the industry. That world never let me go. I felt at home in film and went on to work in lighting myself: first as a lighting technician, later as a gaffer on increasingly large fiction productions.
